This story first appeared in The Bohemian. It is told in the first person by this old priest who wonders if he could retire and travel to discover the country.
I started writing about a place where I spent a few summers as a child, on the east coast of Canada. The character of the priest appeared like the only person who was still there. It is as if I were digging in memories and part of me wanted to go on with life, while part of me wanted to stay and not venture (into writing).
